The Good Samaritan Village Library is located in Cluster 11 of the Walnut Glen neighborhood, on the NW corner of Southgate and Aldersgate Drives.
The Library opened in 1982 with 30 volunteers and 1,000 generously donated books. Today, our volunteer staff numbers 45 and the collection contains over 9,000 regular print, large print, and audio books; videos; CD’s; DVD’s; puzzles; more than 70 magazines; and The Orlando Sentinel, delivered daily M-F.
The Library also has wireless Internet plus two online computers with high speed Internet, available to residents or staff during library hours. There is a charge of $0.25 per quarter hour of on-line use. Printing can be done in black and white or color, with color costing more.
Our new low vision room offers two video magnifiers—Aladdin and the state-of-the art Merlin—for patron use.
GSV resident volunteers completely staff the library and a 10-member volunteer Board administers its affairs. If you’re looking for a meaningful, interesting outlet for volunteer service, let us know. We will gladly match your skills and experience with our current needs.
Look for our monthly newsletter “Comings & Goings” at the Library front desk, the Community Center, the Administration Office, and the Club House.
The Library is self-supporting through material and financial gifts from residents, and from ongoing book and bake sales. Become a Friend of the Library for $5 a year.
