The Reverend Doctor D. Timothy Nordstrom
Pastor Nordstrom is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church. He has served Covenant Churches in various parts of the United States for the past 40 years. For the past eight years he has served as the Pastor of the Good Samaritan Community Church, an independent inter-denominational Church located in the heart of Good Samaritan Village. Pastor Tim comments. “During the past eight years I have enjoyed getting acquainted with the administration and staff and seeing their Christian commitment put into action. The motto “In Christ’s love, everyone is someone” is more than words, it is carried out in daily practice. I have appreciated the good working relationship that exist between the church and the Village and will do my best to see that this continues.”
Pastor Tim was born and raised in the little town of Bothell, about 20 miles North of Seattle, Washington. He graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1962 with a BS in Chemistry. He thought he was headed for a career in science, but God had other plans. While a junior at the U of W, he sensed God’s call to the Christian ministry and upon graduation entered North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1966. He later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California in 1992.
Pastor Tim met his wife, Carol Fishel, while on a year of internship in Youngstown, Ohio. Upon graduation in 1966, they were married. Last year they celebrated their 40th anniversary in Hawaii. They have two children. Their son, Stephen lives in Capitola, California where he is a District manager for Long’s Drugs stores. Their daughter, Shari Clemens lives in Chicago and has their three grandchildren. Shari is the director of the undergraduate admissions for North Park University, Chicago.
Pastor Tim loves to preach and teach the word of God and to minister to people in their need. He has always felt comfortable working with senior adults. Over the past eight years as the pastor of the Village Community Church he has become acquainted with many of the people of the Village. Pastor Tim says, “It is a privilege to get to know the people of the Village and to love them and to be able to minister to them in the hour of their need.” He looks forward to getting acquainted with the new residents. He says, “My door is always open. I invite you to stop in for a visit. I look forward to working together with you.”
